TERMITE BARRIERS

Here at Blue Chip Termite & Pest Control we use Termidor or Termidor HE in 9 out of every 10 barriers that we install. These are two high quality chemicals that have been the number 1 termicide around Australia and the United States for more than 15 years. As a business we have completed additional training and accreditation with the company that makes this chemical to ensure we understand it and are able to protect our customers houses as much as possible. You can see our accreditation on the BASF website.

With all of our barriers we follow all Australian standards and install the product as per the manufacturer’s label for a thorough treatment ensuring your house is fully protected.

We also have cheaper options available for our barrier treatments for people who might be on a budget or for when an unexpected problem arises that requires a barrier to be installed.

Please contact us if you would like to know more about our barrier treatments.

I THINK I MAY HAVE TERMITES IN MY HOUSE

So you think you might have termites in your house, the worst thing you can do is spray fly spray or disturb the wall in any way. All this will do is drive the termites back under ground to come back up at a later time. Our approach to determining if you have termites in your house, what type of termites they are, and where they are in your house is to perform a full termite inspection as per the Australian Standards. Please note that a termite inspection is not a termite check. A termite check has no accreditation with the Australian Standards and does not cover the relevant checks needed to ensure the safety of your house.

Our termite inspections generally take between 1 to 1 ½ hours but depending on if we find termites in the house this could be longer. The available gear we have for termite inspections range from basic dongas and moisture meters through to endoscopes and radar technology to read and track movement in the walls. You can feel confident we have the right gear for the job to ensure the safety of your biggest investment.

TERMITE INSPECTIONS

Blue Chip Termite & Pest Control is an approved Kordon inspection company. Uphold your warranties with us.

All of our termite inspections are completed as per the Australian Standards. On the day of your termite inspection, for all of our new customers you will be asked any issues that you may have seen around the house or past history of termite problems. This will give us a bit of an idea of the history of the house. When performing a termite inspection, we will check all of your fence lines, gardens and lawn areas, outer walls, subfloor and roof voids, and all internal walls for signs of damage or activity. Also included in the termite inspection is checking for moisture around areas such as doorframes, window frames, shower and toilet wall backings. If any high moisture readings are taken on our meters, these will be checked using a termite radar to ascertain if any termite movement is in the wall.

All of our termite inspections come with a written termite report with photos of any problems found or recommendations. Our termite reports are around 7 to 10 pages.

TERMITE TREATMENTS

Depending on the situation, we have a variety of different products available. These range from foaming treatments, dusting treatments, above and below ground baiting systems, and direct chemical injection.

TERMITE BAITING SYSTEMS

We use three different types of termite baiting systems, Sentricon Always Active, EXTERRA, and Rekon. Baiting systems are an alternative to in-ground chemical barriers, it just depends on what your preference is.

If you’d like to know more about the difference in these systems and which one may suit you, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

GEAR WE USE

On the average termite inspection, we will use anything from moisture gauges, tapping techniques, and probing cameras. We also have radar technology available to check for movement inside walls on areas that show termite damage or activity.

TERMITE NESTS AROUND YOUR GARDENS AND TREES

We charge $140 per outdoor termite nest/tree to drill and inject into the nest/tree and $75 per additional nest/tree. This will come with a Certificate of Subterranean Termite Treatment so you can see what has been done to resolve the issue. On most occasions we can identify the type of termites to let you know the level of risk they were to the house and if any additional steps need to be taken to ensure the safety of your property.
